How do I add a contact?

To add a contact, start by opening your Skype desktop application. Look for the column on the left hand side of the Skype screen that has your name listed at the top. Directly underneath, you will see a row of four icons, beginning with an icon in the shape of a house on the left. On the right, you will see an icon of a person with a plus sign. Click on this icon, enter the Skype ID of the person you want to add to your contacts, and then click on the correct Skype profile when it shows up below. Finally, click “Add to Contacts,” and then “Send.” (If you do not know a person’s Skype ID, you can also search for their profile using their email address.)

For Windows 8 users, the process is a little different. You may not see a column on the lefthand side of the screen to add contacts; rather, right click anywhere on the Skype screen to add a contact to your Skype contact list.
